Bashkir jew's harp, or otherwise kubyz, is one of the most ancient musical instruments. Its function is solo music-making. Even in the age of computers and synthesizers, there is something magical and attracting in design and sound of kubyz. It is believed that the Bashkir kubyz is a female instrument. But, nevertheless, the best performers were and still remain male kubyz players.
